Junior year, I started teaching underclassmen restructuring.
In some shape or form, almost a decade later, this is my job, and I am closing the loop by announcing three training programs covering restructuring and special situations.
Let’s rewind the clock to give you more context.
I started teaching restructuring in my junior year. Like all grateful upperclassmen who got a restructuring offer in their sophomore year, I was eager to give back and share with underclassmen everything I learned.
When I started as a restructuring banking analyst, I got frustrated with the dozens of coffee chat requests I would get. I would have liked to spend a lot of time with the students who were genuinely excited about restructuring, but that was simply impossible. I realized I needed something that would scale and hoped the future audience of my lessons would expand far beyond the students emailing me.
This is what led to the creation of the Restructuring_ account on Instagram five years ago.
Over time, things progressed, and I started getting career advice requests that made me so happy. After a few years and 200 Pari Passu newsletter editions later, I started getting messages about how the page interested a student in restructuring, and now they had an offer.
These last few years, more and more people asked for resources to use to prepare for restructuring and special situations interviews, but I never had a great answer.
PDFs are a shortcut that do not fully teach concepts.
The few colleges that have classes often use outdated materials that are too theoretical to be useful.
And books, which I love and have read them all, are legacy resources that will take too much time and do not prepare you to actually interview.
So, I got to work, 2,000 slides and 50 hours of recording later, it is ready for you.
